Edge Project
For this project I was able to teach the new members of Alpha Phi all about our organization. I will make a 5-week lesson plan outline, which will entail learning about our founders, our philanthropy, our members, and our values. This will be a five-week, three-hour course that will be filled with bonding of sisters and empowerment of each other.
During this project I also plan on having weekly team meetings with my assistant teacher and our VP over programming. We will work together to make sure the material is being learned and retained. I plan on making each member a binder that is filled with quotes of sisterhood, a calendar of important dates that are coming up throughout the semester, and any other information that they may need before they are initiated. I am hoping through this project I will be able to bond with the new sisters and form a bridge between our active sisters and new sisters so that after this new member class we will be one.
For my Edge project I will be holding a Six-week new member education class for Alpha Phi members. I want to be able to lesson plan and be an efficient teacher. I hope that through this project I will myself learn a deeper love for alpha phi and better leadership skills. I will have to be timely with getting the lesson plans in order and creative in ways that they can learn the material and get involved with this organization. I am hoping that through this project they will learn respect and values of Alpha Phi so that when I graduate they will be able to carry on our traditions and legacies. I think that this will be beneficial for me so that I learn how to be a good teacher and how to efficiently plan my time wisely and effectively share the information.

For this part of my project, I took pictures of the new member binders along with having the six members write me a letter after initiation. I also was able to update a google drive folder and created a new member educator binder for the next person to get this position.
Once I graduate with my major In Family Life and Education I will have the certification to be a family life educator. With this I am able to teach classes regarding family life education like friendship groups or parenting classes. This will give me an “edge” on others in my major because even though I am not an education major I will already have the experience of teaching a class and being held responsible for those classes and the members.
